Zone Reality Sets Up 'Stupid Laws' For Pilot

Zone Reality, one of Chello Zone's highly successful thematic channels, has commissioned UK indie Rival Media to produce a pilot for an innovative reality series 'Stupid Laws'.
The announcement was made by Steve Cole, Senior Vice President, Channels at Chello Zone.
The pilot will start production in late spring this year and will be broadcast across Zone Reality's international feeds. It is anticipated that a full series of 'Stupid Laws' will be produced in the future.
The pilot and series of 'Stupid Laws' will be distributed internationally by Zone Distribution.
'Stupid Laws' is set to uncover, expose, ridicule and test the most unusual, obscure and arcane laws that sit on the statute books of the United States of America. Featuring local people and local law enforcement agencies in each state, the series will show audiences just how stupid these laws really are.
Using amusing reconstructions and voice-over commentary, each episode will explain everything viewers need to know so that they can avoid breaking the world’s most brainless laws themselves.
Steve Cole commented on the commission: "We're really excited to be working with Rival Media – one of the hottest new indies around - and we’re delighted to have commissioned this ground-breaking new pilot. We believe 'Stupid Laws' will sit well in our Zone Reality schedules and will have strong appeal among our international audiences."
Howard Myers, joint managing director of Rival Media, added: "It's great to be working with Zone Reality’s commissioning team which has really seen the opportunity for a show of this kind. We're sure 'Stupid Laws' has huge potential to become an international franchise as so many countries throughout the world have crazy laws that we’d like to expose!"
Howard Myers (formerly Creative Director of Portfolio Development Group at Buena Vista International Television), and Steve Wynne (formerly Director of Production at Warner Brothers International Television) set up Rival Media in February 2007.
Howard and Steve have since built up a strong development team which has been developing an exciting slate of new Entertainment and Factual Entertainment shows.
