New Irish Film Productions Given Green Light

Irish film production is expected to fear up a notch over the next few months, with a number of films green-lit to go into production this month.
Colin Farrell ('In Bruges') is set to star in 'Triage', a new film to be produced by Irish production company, Parallel Films ('Intermission', 'Breakfast On Pluto', 'The Clinic') and directed by Oscar-winner Danis Tanovic.
The film also stars Christopher Lee and Paz Vega.
Farrell plays Mark, a photojournalist returning home from a dangerous assignment. When his colleague and best friend fails to return home, Mark's girlfriend, Elena (Vega), must find the clues to the mystery that's slowly killing her boyfriend.
Farrell's most recent film, Martin McDonagh's debut feature 'In Bruges', was selected to open the Sundance Film Festival and went on to be a major box office hit in Ireland.
He will next be on screen with Edward Norton in New Line's 'Pride & Glory', which is due for release this spring.
Paz Vega shot to stardom with her dazzling, award-winning performance in 'Sex & Lucia' and has since appeared in Pedro Almodovar's 'Talk To Her' and recently completed Frank Miller's 'The Spirit' opposite Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes and Samuel L. Jackson.
The film will be shot by Irish director of photography Seamus Desey ('The General', 'The Tiger's Tail') and will film on location in Dublin for five weeks and in Spain for three.
'Triage' is an Irish/French/Spanish co-production produced by ASAP Films, Parallel Films in Ireland in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, Aramid Entertainment, Tornasol Films/Freeform and HanWay Films.
HanWay are responsible for worldwide sales and will start selling the film at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
International feature film 'Love And Savagery' starring Irish actress Sarah Green ('Eden') is currently filming in Co. Clare for a number of weeks.
Directed by John N. Smith ('Dangerous Minds') and written by Des Walsh, 'Love & Savagery' is a love story set in 1960's Ireland, in a world where societal obligations to church and community eclipse the passion and desires of the individual.
'Love And Savagery' is co-produced by Subotica Films in Ireland and Morag Productions in Canada with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, Telefilm, the Newfoundland Film & TV Commission and Mongrel Media.
In particular, this production benefited from the IFB Regional Support Fund.
BBC TV series 'Uncle Max 2' is currently shooting on location in Galway for five weeks.
Directed by Julian Kemp ('The Baker Street Irregulars') and scripted by David Schneider and David Armand, 'Uncles Max 2' is a comedy series about the adventures of 9-year-old Luke and his larger-than-life and twice as accident prone Uncle Max.
The series also stars David Schneider in the lead role. 'Uncle Max 2' is produced by Little Bird in Ireland with funding from the IFB Regional Support Fund.
