Welcome To Cream

News Image
Cream is a fresh new large-scale recording studio, which provides a comfortable state-of-the-art working environment for the smooth and efficient running of music track laying and mixing sessions.
Conveniently located in West London, Cream has been purpose-built from the ground up, utilising the expertise of legendary industry figures.
The spacious Recording Architecture designed control room features a new 72-channel Solid State Logic Duality console and a stunningly accurate custom ATC surround monitoring, plus a comprehensive range of vintage and classic outboard equipment.
The 405 sq ft Control Room is comfortable with stylish décor, designed to be conducive to creativity and efficient workflow.
The new 72-channel Solid State Logic Duality Console features innovative dual mic preamps, beautifully integrated DAW control and SPLIT signal flow architecture.
Main monitoring is a fabulous ATC SCM300 ASL/SCM150 ASL custom 5.1 surround system, and a Digidesign Pro ToolsHD3 Accel system with 48 analogue I/O is provided as standard.
Although the room is spacious, the outboard racks are easily reachable from the console and include all the vintage, classic and modern toys one expected in a leading facility.
Directly alongside the control room is a booth with plenty of space to set up for drum kit recording, overdubs, vocals and it is even designed for alternative use as a second editing suite.
Paired with this is a beautiful double-height live room with adjustable acoustics and two separation booths. Provision for High-Definition video projection is available in both the control and recording rooms.
The 850 sq ft Live Room has been carefully planned and acoustically designed by Recording Architecture and is a large, comfortable and flexible space for up to 30 musicians.
The irregular shaped room's floor is entirely floating, and the acoustics are easily and instantly variable with an innovative system of adjustable roof panels, making the characteristics suitable for a wide range of applications.
The room is two-storeys tall, with a balcony at one end where it is easy to place ambient microphones or set up individual musicians, with a spiral staircase leading down onto the gorgeous solid oak floor of the main room.
Underneath the balcony is an isolation booth, plenty large enough to house a drum kit or the studio's wonderful, fully restored Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano (formerly AIR 'Oxford Street' Studios).
The mic cupboard is brimful with a selection of desirable classic and modern models, including more than a dozen vintage valve microphones.
An Aviom personal mixing system enables comprehensive foldback control for musicians. Communication is enhanced between studio and control room with comprehensive video linkage in both directions.
A custom Trilogy talkback system allows the live room to be utilised by any of the adjacent White Rooms production suites when available.
Alongside the main Cream studio are six White Rooms for programming, preproduction or post-production use. But these are no afterthought, having been designed by Recording Architecture and built to exacting standards, creating a comfortable working environment with excellent acoustics.
Two large rooms and four medium-sized rooms, all with overdub booths, are accompanied by two chillout/client lounge areas.
Film scoring and sound-to-picture are especially catered for, with the former Lansdowne Studios Manager and Chief Engineer Chris Dibble having overseen the entire creation of Cream.
There is a dedicated Sohonet leased line connection, plus Apple Xserve Gigabit Ethernet based networking and Digidesign DigiDeliveryIGT systems to allow media files to be securely shared and zapped across to other facilities at lighting speeds.
Gearbox, the leading audio/video equipment hire and sales company is headquartered in the same premises as Cream, providing an instant solution when extras are needed and offering full 24/7 backup and technical support when complex installations or troubleshooting are required.
A number of different-sized White Rooms are also available for hire when a smaller setup is needed for preproduction.
