Next Generation Mantis System Debuts At NAB

News Image
Vislink Group Company Advent Communications is unveiling its next generation Mantis Integrated Motorised Antenna System at the 2008 NAB show in Las Vegas.
Designed for demanding broadcast and defence field applications, Mantis represents a major advance in Advent's proven market-leading technology and delivers a high specification, rugged, reliable and easily transportable flyaway satellite system. Incorporating a unique lift-assisted mount for rapid set-up in the field, the Mantis is a world-leading ultra-compact design that is best in class for performance, weight and value.
With this Mantis development, Advent has combined the proven functionality of its established 1.9 million and 2.4 million antennas with a military grade motorised system that can withstand the harshest operating conditions.
Housed in specially designed rugged polyethylene flight cases and available in single, dual, tri and quad-band configurations, the Mantis incorporates satellite auto-acquisition and auto-tracking.
The antenna is complemented by Advent's sophisticated range of electronics and RF subsystems. Mantis' brand new patent-pending mount design features an assisted lift mechanism, accelerating the speed of deployment and greatly aiding the set-up process.
The waveguide and motors are fully enclosed, providing total protection irrespective of the operational climate or conditions, enabling Mantis to achieve exceptional environmental performance within a small lightweight package.
The Mantis is the latest addition to Vislink's defence portfolio, marketed by the group's dedicated Defence Law Enforcement and Security (DLES) business development initiative. DLES has access to more than 400 specialists worldwide, harnessing three key technology strands to create best of breed systems for government agency and defence applications.
These are drawn from Advent Communications' industry leading end-to-end lightweight satellite communications systems, designed for rapid deployment; Link Research's low latency COFDM-based covert and overt digital video surveillance systems, optimised for use in built-up city centres; and Microwave Radio Communications' fixed and portable digital microwave data links, specialising in networked solutions and real time airborne video downlinks.
Vislink Group is a leading global supplier of video centric microwave radio and satellite transmission products for the broadcast, defence and security markets.
