'The Pearce Sisters' Win Prix UIP Tampere

'The Pearce Sisters' - a tale of love, loneliness, guts, gore, nudity, violence, smoking and cups of tea - has been announced as the winner of Prix UIP Tampere.
The international jury described the film as, “An intelligent and wonderfully animated black comedy. Failing in their quest for human contact, the sisters resort to macabre means to socialize. In a grotesque way, this film is both touching and entertaining.”
The Prix UIP is an initiative by UIP and the European Film Academy in co-operation with fourteen festivals throughout Europe. At each of these festivals, an independent jury selects a European short film to receive the Prix UIP. Each prize includes a financial donation of EUR 2,000 and the automatic nomination in the short film category of the 21st European Film Awards.
The overall winner will be presented during the Awards Ceremony on 6 December in Copenhagen and will receive a donation of €10,000.
The next winner will be presented in co-operation with the Krakow Film Festival.
