BBC TWO Commission Icon Films To Produce Natural World Series 'Tiger Kill'

Bristol-based factual indie, Icon Films has been commissioned by BBC TWO to produce 'Tiger Kill' as part of the Natural World series which will broadcast in early 2008.
Tiger Kill is a 1x50 minute documentary that explores, through the trials, tribulations and eventual triumph of two top natural history cameramen, why it is so difficult to document a tiger kill on film.
Although Wildlife cameraman Simon King, has filmed big cat hunting behaviour across the world for over two decades, he had never visited India or ever see a tiger in the wild. He’d long dreamt of seeing a tiger take prey at full stretch – but it was a dream that was in danger of being unfulfilled with tigers facing extinction in the wild.
Simon has teamed up with Indian tiger expert, Alphonse Roy to crack one of Natural History’s toughest challenges, to get a tiger kill on film. Simon and Alphonse share their field craft, technical skills and local knowledge and after an epic struggle of wills and patience manage to record the elusive and fleeting moment of a tiger at the peak of its powers, an event which is very rare in the history of nature documentary filmmaking.
Harry Marshall, Producer for Icon Films said: "Icon Films has brought together two experts to achieve a feat only once before captured on film. Simon King, one of the worlds leading experts on tigers and their behaviour, had never been to India and had never seen a wild tiger. We paired him with Indian Wildlife filmmaker and tiger expert, Alphonse Roy to make a truly historic film."
Tiger Kill is an Icon Films production for BBC TWO’s Natural World series commissioned by series editor Tim Martin. The documentary was produced and directed by Harry Marshall for Icon Films.
Post production will be carried out by 'Films At 59'.
