Storyboard Artist Brings Expertise To Animation Festival
Storyboard artist, Benedict Lewis, from Whitstable, will be giving local people the opportunity to learn about his craft and his role on the new CGI Magic Roundabout series, at Canterbury Christ Church University, on Saturday 20 October from 2pm until 4.30pm.
The animation storyboarding workshop is free to the public and part of Canterbury Anifest 2007, Kent's first animation festival.
Lewis, who has worked in the British animation industry for the past 14 years on shows such as Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, Mr Bean and The Cramp Twins, will give members of the public the opportunity to try their hands at storyboarding an extract of an episode from the Magic Roundabout.
Lewis commented: "I produce storyboards for children's animation series because I love drawing and telling a story visually. Animation brings film, narrative and drawing together perfectly for me. Those who attend the workshop will learn about the nuts and bolts of the profession and hopefully apply the rules of storyboarding to their own creative ventures."
The workshop is just one of a series of exciting events to be run by Canterbury Anifest 2007, a Canterbury City Council initiative in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, University College for the Creative Arts, University of Kent and Festival Fringe. The festival is funded by Screen South and Kent Community Schools.
