LRT Orders Six Leader LV5100D Digital Waveform Monitors For Vilnius HQ

Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT), Lithuania's national public broadcaster, has ordered six Leader LV5100D digital waveform monitors for its headquarters in Vilnius.
The instruments will be used to check ingest and output signal quality in a new file-based automated digital archiving and playout system currently being installed. The contract was negotiated by TV & Communication Systems (TVC), a partner of elQuip BV, Broadcast Master Distributor for Leader Electronics in Europe.
"Lithuania RTV has been using Leader LV5100D digital waveform monitors for several years," said Arunas Uksas of TV & Communication Systems. "They were greatly impressed by the instruments' reliability and the outstanding price-to-feature ratio. The LV5100D units are a key element in one of the largest installations ever undertaken at LRT. The project includes robotics, telecine and playout control suites for three channels and is due for completion by January."
The LV5100D enables easy analysis of colour vectors and includes an EDH measurement facility to monitor serial transmission error. It accepts dual passive component serial digital input channels conforming to ITU-R656-1 and SMPTE 259M. An active output provides onward transmission of either input. A three-channel YUV/GBR analogue input is also incorporated. Leader's patented equivalent-cable-length measurement function allows signal levels to be viewed in a form providing intuitive guidance against cliff-edge channel transmission path failure.
Y or G chroma components can be viewed as a television image on the LV 5100D's 150 mm rectangular high-intensity P4-phosphor CRT.
The positional relationship between a video signal and its corresponding image can be checked using an intensity-modulated display of a selected image line. Electronically-generated cursor reference lines allow easy measurement of signal level. A data dump function displays a user-selectable line of digital data in hex.
Analogue stereo audio can be displayed in X-Y mode. User-assignable memories allow frequently-employed measurement parameters to be stored for local or remote rapid recall.
The LV5100D occupies a compact 215 (W) x 429 mm (D) footprint and 132 mm height.
