IPV Announces Integration With Thomson’s Grass Valley ContentShare2 Solution

IPV's close integration with Thomson’s Grass Valley ContentShare2 workflow and media management system is providing users with an unprecedented level of desktop browse functionality.
For rapid turnaround of live, file based and archived content IPV’s proven SpectreView browse access is key to the efficient parallel and collaborative workflows demanded by the new solution.
According to Thomson, ContentShare2 represents a completely new approach to the creation, commercialization and delivery of content. The open software solution has been developed as a system platform with extended adaptability to customers' environment and workflow, instead of forcing them to change their processes andtotal infrastructure using standard product available on the market. It defines media workflows by their progress through the entire enterprise, rather than by how the media interacts with technical operations. It is unique in bringing together both business and creative systems to create a secure media asset and process management foundation, increasing project efficiency from creation through to distribution and archiving.
Eric DuFossé, Director of Marketing Systems Solutions for Thomson’s Grass Valley business said: "We chose IPV as the key component for the browsing solution to extend our system offering. We went to IPV because of their technology – which is complementary with ours, the fact that it is compatible with a significant installed base, gives unprecedented desktop features and performance and perhaps most importantly – it will facilitate interoperability with third party vendors."
Nigel Booth, IPV Executive VP Sales & Marketing, added: "We are pleased to be supplying a key technology component to Thomson. Low bit rate encoding and the frame accurate manipulation of video over standard IT infrastructures are no longer limited to the journalist working in a news room environment. Broadcasters are demanding that multiple format types and functions be made available across the production chain in a multi-user desktop environment to link an organisation together.
The key to successful browse creation is how you craft a frame accurate proxy, efficiently serve it, work with live and transcoding files and manipulate the required metadata so that tens, hundreds or thousands of users benefit from VTR-type performance at the desktop."
