IPV Integrated Process Engine System Stands Alone To Automate Broadcast Production Processes

IPV, a leading independent supplier of media, metadata and low nitrate, frame-accurate video technology to the broadcast and professional video sectors, will be showcasing the latest version of its Process Engine, the company's services orientated and automated rules driven engine that allows users to manage, track and orchestrate multiple scripted workflows, at NAB 2011.
The Process Engine enables the users to control job workflows of any scale - from simple file moves and notification to complex multi-layered designs - and will now operate as a standalone product or integrated into the IPV SpectreView, Curator and Teragator range.
The IPV Process Engine services integrate devices from multiple vendors enabling a choice of solution and for the user to combine solutions that best match their requirements. The engine initiates and manages web services in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) interfaces include XML, REST and SOAP providing transcode requests, automated off-line rendering, storyboarding, asset movement, asset and archive management, record generation and synchronisation.
One of the Engine's key features is its ability to notify users of job status to ensure the process of work is seamlessly automated. If workflows change then the Process Engine provides the tools to support and map this change easily and efficiently.
Additionally, the system can interactively interrogate storage devices including video servers, SANs and archive and provide a complete asset and workflow management service including, proxy generation, site to site transfers, and delivery of full resolution content including transcoding and re-wrapping.
Nigel Booth, Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing at IPV, said: "Our Process Engine has taken on a life of its own and this IPV solution is now available as a stand-alone system with its optimised components for broadcast centric workflows and broadcast critical activities that can be configured independently of our Production MAM solution. The scriptable nature of the Engine's empowers users to create and monitor automated processes and achieve greater workflow efficiencies across their entire production system."
NAB 2011 will also see the latest IPV offering for both its Curactor and SpectreView product ranges. The company has further increased the productivity of the Curator workflow by incorporating tools that improve the speed of ingest, logging and retrieval, while at the same time providing an integrated editing solution for live applications controlled directly from the desktop. In combination with IPV's renowned low bitrate video technology, users can quickly and simply browse through the content of single or multiple libraries to identify related or more appropriate content. This drives improvements in workflows and cost-efficiencies in finding, retrieving and managing assets thereby maximising earnings from a media asset portfolio.
An affordable, tapeless workflow environment running on both PC and Apple Mac platforms, the Curator system is designed to allow communities of media professionals to efficiently fulfil tasks such as desktop editing, media annotation, review and approval and general media browsing as well as easy management of the high resolution source media.
Whatever the source of the material, Curator is guaranteed to be frame accurate at all times giving an unprecedented desktop experience. Curator comes into its own in a live event environment by providing the facility to immediately browse, annotate, log and rough cut edit directly on the desktop in a standard network environment.
Visitors to the IPV stand will experience the flexibility and scalability of the IPV Curator Production Asset Management and workflow automation system that has been seamlessly integrated into Adobe's Premiere Pro. The IPVLive plug-in enables live growing, frame accurate proxies to be streamed directly into Premiere Pro in a multi-user environment across a standard IT network. This, together with full access to the Curator database, provides unprecedented freedom for production personnel to quickly produce fast turnaround highlight packages and promos at their desktops. The IPVLive plug-in can also be seen on the Adobe stand at SL3320.
