Gefen delivers upgraded audio/video switchers for digital high definition systems

Two new economical high definition switchers from Gefen take the hassle out of connecting two HD video sources to a single-input display.
The 2x1 HDMI and 2x1 HDTV Switchers accept two source inputs, such as satellite television systems and DVD players, in either HDMI or DVI formats, and output both to the same display.
The 2x1 HMDI Switcher is fully HDMI compliant, transmitting digital video plus multichannel digital audio in the same cable through its two HDMI inputs/one HDMI output.
The 2x1 HDTV Switcher supports digital video sent through DVI connectors, and supplies two DVI inputs/one DVI output.
System integration is enabled because both HDMI and DVI devices may be intermixed in the same system when combined with an optional HDMI to DVI or DVI to HDMI Adapter. In either case, the source interface determines whether the signal will pass through both audio and video, as with HDMI sources, or digital video only, as with DVI sources. If a source is HDMI, it will pass through digital audio through the DVI connector.
An easy, plug and play installation makes both switchers ideally suited to the professional and consumer markets. Users select which source to view by IR remote control or any universally programmable remote control.
Both of Gefen’s Switchers support HD visuals in resolutions up to 1080p, and HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection) devices.
