Double Gold For New Moon

New Moon has struck Olympic gold again with their creative work for the successful Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Bid.
Confirming that company's credentials in the fiercely competitive world of sport event bidding. The IOC elected Sochi, the Russian Black Sea resort as the host city for the Olympic Winter Games in 2014 at the IOC session in Guatemala this week.
New Moon, the London-based independent production company which works across advertising, broadcast and corporate films, is best known for the inspirational and rousing promotional films 'Make Britain Proud' and 'Inspiration' which underpinned London's successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
As a result of the acclaim these films received, Sochi hired New Moon as creative consultants for their 2014 Olympic Games presentation. Founder and Group Managing Director of New Moon Caroline Rowland and her team were responsible for developing the narrative, speech-writing, developing and producing the film and audiovisual material and ensuring that the 45-minute presentation to the International Olympic Committee ('IOC') expressed the strength of the technical bid.
"One of most interesting aspects of working on a Russian bid has been the need to immerse oneself in the culture," says Rowland. "When you consider that the showpiece film for the bid presentation focused on the history and culture of Russian athletes, we clearly had a lot to learn!" The film prompted comments from IOC members about its fresh and bold presentation of the Russian relationship with winter sport.
Sochi is better known for its historic spas than its winter sports but President Vladimir Putin has committed $12 billion to developing the infrastructure for the Games around the coast and the mountains. Sochi is renowned for its fantastic snow conditions currently only accessible by helicopter and a single antiquated chair-lift. This new infrastructure will ensure that the resort is state-of-the-art, has high-speed lift systems, all the mod cons and the benefit of dramatic alpine scenery less than half an hour from the beaches of the Black Sea.
The Olympic Winter Games presentation was made in Guatemala City on Wednesday July 4 where Sochi fought off tough competition from PyeongChang in Korea and Salzburg in Austria in one of the tightest Olympic Games contests in recent history.
