Release Date Set For Axion Films' Half Nelson

The highly acclaimed independent US feature 'Half Nelson' will be released by Axiom Films across the UK and Ireland on 6 April 2007.
Directed by Ryan Fleck and co-written with producer and editor Anna Boden, the film stars Ryan Gosling (The Notebook, Stay, The Believer) alongside newcomer Shareeka Epps.
Half Nelson tells the story of an inner city high school teacher Dan Dunne ('Goslng'). Dynamic and inspirational in the classroom, he spends his time outside of school on the edge of consciousness. His personal disappointments and disillusionment have led to a serious drug habit. An unexpected friendship emerges between Dan and one of his students, Drey (EPPS), after she finds out the secrets of his parallel life. Smart, moving and politically engaged, Half Nelson is one of the most exciting American Independent films in years. Strong performances from the cast and an original score that includes Canadian indie rock group Broken Social Scene, enable director Ryan Fleck to weave together a moving story of redemption in an unforgiving world.
Widely applauded by critics in the US and already generating a strong Oscar buzz, the film recently picked up five nominations for the 2007 Independent Spirit Awards as well as taking home a trio of prizes at the 16th annual IFP Gotham Awards.
Along with the best feature prize, the film also walked off with honours in the other two categories in which it was nominated - a director's prize for Ryan Fleck and a breakthrough actor award for newcomer Shareeka Epps.
Following from its success as one of the most talked about films at the Sundance Film Festival it went on to win the Special Jury Prize at both the Locarno and Deauville Film Festivals.
Half Nelson will open in cinemas in the UK on the 6 April 2007 with a running time of 107 minutes, certificate has yet to be confirmed.
