The Foundry releases Keylight for Autodesk Combustion and Adobe After Effects 7.0 Standard Edition

The Foundry, a leading visual effects developer, has announced the release of Keylight, the Academy Award-winning blue and green screen keyer, for Autodesk’s Combustion and Adobe’s After Effects Standard Edition desktop software.
Keylight is already available on a range of leading platforms including Autodesk’s inferno, flame, flint, fire and smoke systems, as well as Shake, Avid DS and the Professional version of Adobe After Effects. The new release extends this acclaimed and hugely popular keying technology to the global After Effects and Combustion communities, delivering a powerful new toolset for the creation of quality visual effects.
Keylight is easy to use, and is highly effective at tackling shots in which it is problematic to pull a clean key, particularly shots featuring hair, reflections and semi-transparent areas. Spill suppression is built-in, meaning that selection of the screen colour is often all that is needed for the user to pull a perfect matte and allow effects elements to be seamlessly seated together and to look genuinely photographed.
“Whilst Keylight has been available on a range of host platforms, we had more and more requests from the After Effects Standard edition and Combustion communities, and felt Keylight would be a beneficial resource for both of these user groups,” said Dr Bill Collis, The Foundry’s commercial director. “Keylight will really enhance the style and quality of visual effects they wish to create.”
Keylight has an unparalleled pedigree, having been used on scores of feature films including: 'King Kong', 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', the 'Harry Potter' series, 'Mission Impossible', 'Resident Evil', 'Sleepy Hollow', 'Chicken Run', 'The Truman Show', 'Armageddon' and many, many more.
Its ease of use, and ability to tackle difficult footage via an array of built-in tools, has earned Keylight an enviable reputation, and established it as a favourite with visual effects facilities and artists across the world.
“Keylight remains one of our most powerful keying tools. I've relied on it for nine years. Its spill suppression and matte manipulation capabilities are second to none. Keylight is simple to use and versatile enough to cope with the wide range of key extraction/colour correction situations,” said Gavin Toomey, senior compositing artist, Framestore CFC.
