Televideo Launches HD1 At British Superbike Championships

Televideo officially launched HD1 at the British Superbike Championships on September 17, 2006.
The new High Definition outside broadcast unit had been under development for almost a year, but the hard work paid off as the penultimate round of the popular motor sport was broadcast, on this occasion in SD, with great success.
The Televideo team were all extremely happy with the new unit and look forward to the job opportunities it will bring.
Paul Scivill, Managing Director of the company commented: ''HD1 brings our company to the leading edge of broadcast technology and enables us to undertake coverage of any live event irrespective of size or complexity.''
Broadcasters around the world are now moving towards HD broadcasting, as the latest developments in technology bring new techniques and possibilities. The time is approaching when all major sporting and music events, as well as studio productions, will be recorded in HD, providing opportunities for producers and facilities providers alike.
The publicity High Definition television received in the run-up to the World Cup 2006, advertised as 'the next big thing in home entertainment', has generated a great deal of interest in HD1. Leading broadcasters including the BBC, Sky and Telewest, are pushing the new technology forward, and it is thought that in the near future all big events will be broadcast in HD.
HD1 is a multi-format unit with global broadcasting capability in high and standard definition, with the capacity to provide simultaneous output. The truck has an impressive 30 camera capability. All HD/SD formats are supported, and with leading technology from manufacturers such as Sony, Studer, Dolby Digital, Riedel and Leitch, the unit is highly advanced. In production, HD1 has a Sony MVS 8000 Vision Mixer, 64 x colour monitor stack, as well as larger LCD HD monitors. The graphics department boasts an Aston Red/Ethos/FX Deko suitable for up to 4 operators. HD1 includes 6 x 6 channel EVS positions, and 6 x VTR positions. The technologies available in the sound department include a Studer Vista 8 unit. HD1 is a state of the art OB vehicle, which looks to be in high demand as the world steps forward into High Definition - the future of television broadcasting.
