Audience award returns to Cardiff Film Festival
Cardiff Film Festival 2006 has announced the welcome return of the popular Audience Award.
The award offers members of the public attending the Festival, which runs in the capital from 8-18 November, an opportunity to vote for their favourite film.
The Audience Award is sponsored and hosted this year by Sequence, the Cardiff based digital communications agency. The public will be asked to vote for their favourite film either online, on the interactive Film Festival website, www.cardifffilmfestival.co.uk
Ongoing results will be available to access online until the final result is announced at the end of the 11-day Festival.
The Audience Award for the best UK film in 2005 was given to Dead Long Enough, directed by Tom Collins with the international winner named as The Puffy Chair from the USA.
Richard Baker, owner of Sequence said: “I think what this Audience Award really allows is a great way for the audience to get involved with the process. We have built the mechanism to allow them to vote, similar to that of Big Brother."
Sarah Howells, director of the Cardiff Film Festival, added: “We are delighted Sequence are sponsoring the Audience Award as it offers a wider audience to get involved with the festival and for new talent to be spotted within the film industry. The interactive website is easy to navigate and with the straightforward voting format we hope this will encourage more people to take an interest in the Audience Award and support new films shown at the Festival from the UK and abroad.”
