'Reaching Higher' as young people co-produce new feature film

Following a successful call in January by First Campus and Tornado Films, a new feature film co-produced by young people in South Wales has now gone into production.
The feature, 'Reaching Higher', was developed with young people between the ages of 11 and 16 from South East Wales who worked on ideas for a script with local writer Neil Williams and Emmerdale writer Andrew Kirk in workshops in the spring. The film will be shot on location in South Wales over the next 3 weeks starting August 7.
Project Manager of the Academy Hannah Raybould commented: “The Screen Academy Wales is working closely with projects like First Campus on developing initiatives such as Reaching Higher to encourage people from all areas of Wales to consider a career in film.”
The producer/director of the project Antony Smith added: "When I was first introduced to this project I was excited by the fact that so many young people had been involved in the development process."
Tornado Films are inviting young people who are interested in being an extra in the film to attend auditions on the 14th of August at Llantwit Major Comprehensive School.
