dB Broadcast Expands Into Third New Building

After several years of continuous industry growth, independent system integrator dB Broadcast, has expanded once again and moved into a third new building at its purpose-built headquarters in Cambridgeshire. dB now has some 20,000 square feet of space for pre-fabrication and test.
Tom Swan, dB's sales and Marketing Director, said: "As the timescale for the completion of contracts becomes more and more compressed, the ability to pre-fabricate and test, while building work is carried out at customers' sites, is becoming increasingly vital.
"Large contracts need a large amount of assembly space. For example, the new ATV television channel in Jordan was prefabricated at dB and comprised 12 containers of equipment.
"We are also finding that, in order to meet customers' requirements for a quick turnaround, we need a large amount of space to hold stock of bulky items, such as racks, which are typically on a four-to-eight weeks lead time. Some systems have to be turned out in less time than this, so at any given time we now have some 40 racks in stock.
"In addition, we are working on more OB vehicles; 17 of all shapes and sizes in the last 21 months, including a 13.5 metre mobile studio for BBC Radio Resources. This all takes up more space" said Swan.
"A final reason for the expansion," said Swan, "is that we prefer having different factory floor areas for different projects. And we find that, by and large, customers prefer that as well."
