ESB DUBLIN JAZZ WEEK 2000

THE JAZZ & Cinema element in this year’s ESB Dublin Jazz Week screens four films, with the highpoint being the screening of the multi-award winning documentary film, ‘Genghis Blues’.
Made by the brothers Roko and Adrian Belic, with Roko credited as the director, ‘Genghis Blues’ tells the story of jazz musician Paul Pena's visit to the lost land of Tuva. It also portrays the Tuvan art of throat singing, a complex technique through which the human voice can simultaneously produce four notes.
‘Genghis Blues’ was nominated for an Academy Award and has also won many awards on the International Film Festival Circuit.
Many of these awards are audience awards, reflecting its appeal to cinema goers.
Wim Wenders huge hit, ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, and Don McGlynns, ‘More Than You Know’, will also be screening at the Jazz Week.
The ESB Dublin Jazz Week begins on September 18 – September 24.
