TEKTRONIC ENHANCE PROGRAMME QUALITY OF SERVICE MONITORS

Tektronix, Inc. developers of Video Quality of Service (VQoS) products, have enhanced their latest version of the PQM300 Programme Quality of Service Monitor.
The new monitors provide display, networking and troubleshooting notification capabilities for dealing with multiple channels of video information, such as satellite distribution facilities, cable head-ends, or Internet networks.
Enhancements to the Tektronix PQM300 include a new graphical user interface (GUI) that enables users to identify, diagnose, and correct programme errors in compressed digital video faster and more accurately than before. Remote protocol monitoring to speed diagnosis of problems and send picture quality defect alarms to a central location and improved error logging to easily pinpoint the exact time and location of errors.

The PQM300 provides automated, continuous video quality monitoring, assuring customers of quality of service, while optimising bandwidth utilisation when distributing video content over networks.”
The PQM300’s graphic user interface incorporates three new views. A new bar-chart display features a five-point scale for more objective analysis of programme quality.
The instrument’s new confidence view offers a near real-time image of a monitored programme as an alarm is triggered, providing more information to the user when it’s needed most. Also new is the Splash View, where up to eight monitored programmes are displayed in a near real-time thumbnail format.
