SKY ONE AND FOX KIDS DISAGREE

A DISAGREEMENT has arisen between British Sky Broadcasting (BskyB) channels Sky One and Fox Kids following Sky One’s decision to make a move into children’s programming.
Sky One General Manager David Bergg is already bidding for a number of kids properties following the channel’s success with ‘Pokemon’. Bergg is also believed to have plans for an early morning and teatime children’s strand for next year.
Relations between BskyB and Fox – both of which have News Corporation as a major shareholder, are understood to have been deteriorating since Sky One beat Fox Kids to the ‘Pokemon’ rights last year.
The move into the kids arena was apparently led by Sky Networks Managing Director Elizabeth Murdoch, who is believed to have renegotiated a deal with News Corporation who had previously stopped Sky acquiring kids productions.
