ITV Local to broadcast live sport using Narrowstep's TelVOS

ITV Local, the new broadband TV channel for the South and South East of England powered by TelVOS, Narrowstep's Television Operating System, will be broadcasting a pay-per-view basketball match with NBA star Dennis Rodman live on Valentine's Day.
The championship match at the Brighton Centre will be the first time that ITV Local has offered live streaming of an event, and tickets will be available for £7.50 by going to www.itvlocal.tv.
Numbers of viewers will be limited so early registration is advised.
In preparation for the broadcast, Narrowstep have created a new broadband channel within the ITV Local player. Viewers who have paid to watch the game between the Genesis Brighton Bears and the Springfield Honda Newcastle Eagles will be able to log in prior to the game at 6.30pm on Tuesday 14 February.
Lindsay Charlton, Managing Director of ITV Meridian, adds: "This is a very exciting venture for ITV Local, and I am delighted that our partners in it are the Brighton Bears. If this trial is successful, then we intend to offer other pay-per-view events as a broadband service for viewers of ITV Local, which is an important new addition to ITV's family of channels."
Joe Trainor, Narrowstep's Project Manger for the ITV Local said: "This event is another example of how ITV Local is embracing new ways of generating revenue from content. The revenue market for Pay Per View is a growing one and ITV's trial of this market is not only to see what revenues can be generated but also build up expertise in this fledging industry and establish themselves as a leader of paid-for live events."
During the 150-minute programme, ITV will beam the video signal via satellite to Narrowstep's London studio where the signal will be converted for the windows media platform and distributed via their TelVOS system, through broadband, to all ticket holders wherever they are in the world.
The programme itself will also feature pre-match interviews and behind-the-scenes news with the appearance of NBA and Big Brother star Dennis Rodman, in his second outing for the Bears.
Highlights of the match will be available in the days following the event.
