ITV Launches 'The ITV Green Room' Pilot

News Image
ITV, in partnership with the Film and TV Charity (FTVC), has announced the launch of The ITV Green Room, a new pilot programme aimed at supporting freelancers as they navigate periods between roles.

The initiative was developed by ITV's Mental Health Advisory Group, which brings together senior leaders from across ITV alongside mental health experts. The group created the programme in response to findings from the FTVC’s Looking Glass report, with the goal of offering freelancers a sense of connection, structure and purpose during gaps in employment.

The initial pilot of The ITV Green Room will bring together a cohort of freelancers to form a peer support network. Participants will have access to ITV colleagues who will act as industry mentors throughout the programme. The pilot will include a schedule of events, training sessions and workshops covering topics such as artificial intelligence and CV development. Participants will also be able to work from ITV offices one day per week. Insights from the pilot will be used to help shape future initiatives designed to support freelancers across the industry.

The programme is seeking 20 experienced freelancers to take part in its first cohort. Applications open today, with the pilot running from January to April. ITV plans to expand the scheme to regional locations over the coming year.

During the pilot, participants will receive access to ITV's London White City offices one day per week as a cohort, providing space to work, connect and share lunch together. The programme will also offer training and development through "lunch and learn" sessions focused on areas such as resilience and understanding personal strengths.

In addition, participants will take part in three dedicated mentoring sessions with ITV coaches to support career development and expand professional networks. The pilot will also feature three in-person workshops delivered in collaboration with the ITV Academy, including an industry futures insight day and networking opportunities with ITV Studios label representatives, ITV Studios talent managers and commissioners.
