SSL SUPPLY DIGITAL SURROUND MOBILE

OXFORD-based Solid State Logic (SSL) have announced the delivery of an 18-metre remote recording vehicle with a 96-channel Axiom-MT digital multi-track console to B&R Medientechnik of Kürten, Germany.
The new vehicle, dubbed the B&R Surround Sound Mobile, has already been used for the surround sound recording of an orchestral concert in Berlin featuring the internationally acclaimed violinist, André Rieu and Orchestra.
B&R's owner, Bernd Kugler, said: "For us, the installation of the MT
was a dream come true. We have a very successful mobile recording business
but we wanted to be the first in Germany to offer digital surround sound -
both for recording and broadcast - to extend our client base. We were
extremely impressed with the powerful automation on the console and with
the fact that it's readily familiar to our freelance operators".
The 48-fader, 96-channel MT is fitted with 96 analogue mic inputs, plus 40
analogue and 72 digital I/Os. The mobile also features peripherals from
Lexicon, EMT, Eventide, TC, and other standard outboard equipment, while
surround monitoring is handled by Miller & Kreisel speakers. The truck also
has stereo monitoring systems from Westlake and Genelec.
The machine room includes a Pro Tools system and tape machines in all
available formats, including a specially prepared area for MADI connected
DASH machines. Additionally, the 40-ton custom designed Netam-Fruehauf
trailer incorporates a separate VIP office and relaxation area equipped
with 16:9 plasma screen and a high quality surround sound system.
