London ‘Movie Map’ launched for new Woody Allen film

Film London and Visit London have launched a movie map based on Woody Allen’s new film, ‘Match Point’.
Starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Match Point is a drama about a young man’s rise in society and the terrible consequences of his ambition. Filming took place for seven weeks in and around London with the production marking Woody Allen’s first feature film to be made entirely outside of his native New York.
Through the movie map, visitors can follow in Scarlett Johansson’s footsteps to discover some of London’s top shops and restaurants as well as familiar London landmarks such as 30 St Mary Axe (also known as The Gherkin), Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.
The map also highlights some lesser-known sites such as the hidden sanctuary of Mount Street Gardens as well as locations off the ‘tourist trail’ in Belgravia, Marylebone, Notting Hill, Chelsea and Covent Garden.
Chief Executive of Film London, Adrian Wootton said: “London offers an unrivalled range of locations and it’s fantastic to see one of the world’s greatest film-makers showcasing the capital in such a spectacular way. Match Point does not offer a postcard view of London but captures the real cultural breadth of the capital including theatre, art, cinema and opera.”
James Bidwell, Chief Executive of Visit London, said: “The Match Point movie map not only demonstrates Woody Allen’s love for London and the variety it offers, but also demonstrates the scope for exploring the lesser known areas of the capital.
“London is a city of endless possibilities and films are a great way of showcasing its diversity and enticing film lovers from around the world.”
This is the sixth in a series of movie maps which are designed to encourage tourists, Londoners and film-lovers alike to discover the capital through recent feature films shot in the city.
The Match Point Movie Map can be downloaded from: www.filmlondon.org.uk/moviemaps and www.visitlondon.com,
Maps will be available from 12 December in tourist information centres around the UK, Cineworld cinemas across the country and hundreds of restaurants, bars, cafes and cinemas in London’s West End.
