Blackmagic Design announce DeckLink Extreme with PCI Express

Blackmagic Design announced DeckLink Extreme with PCI Express (PCIe) compatibility with the new Power Macintosh G5 systems.
DeckLink Extreme PCIe is a PCI Express version of Blackmagic Design's famous DeckLink Extreme capture card that features a new high speed PCI Express 1 lane interface running at 2.5 Gbps, which is more than six times faster than FireWire based solutions.
Fully compatible with these powerful new systems from Apple Computer, combined with DeckLink Extreme PCIe allows video professionals greater creative freedom. Higher processing speeds, combined with high speed PCI Express slots allow many more real time video effects and transitions than previously possible, while encoding for DVD, and video iPods can be accomplished at unprecedented speeds.
DeckLink Extreme PCIe connects to any standard definition deck in broadcast video, because it combines both 10 bit SDI digital video and analogue YUV component video into a single compact low cost PCI Express card. DeckLink Extreme PCIe includes full support for all QuickTime based Mac OS X applications including Final Cut Pro HD, Apple Shake, Adobe Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro, Adobe After Effects, Apple Motion, iDVD, and many more.
DeckLink Extreme PCIe features the highest quality 10 bit uncompressed SDI video connections making it the perfect solution for connecting to high end broadcast decks such as Digital Betacam, D5, and D1. True 10 bit SDI capture retains all the subtle detail in images even during the heaviest multi generation rendering and video processing.
When connecting to decks such as Betacam SP, DeckLink Extreme is the only low cost card to feature full analogue component YUV video allowing crisp clean images that take full advantage of Betacam SP's 4:2:2 analogue video path. With 6 separate analog power supplies onboard, DeckLink Extreme's analogue connections have been specially optimized for the Betacam SP format.
DeckLink Extreme PCIe provides full 24 bit based professional balanced analogue audio on superbly robust XLR connections. Pro analogue XLR based audio connections onboard are perfect for connecting to pro audio mixers or other outboard equipment.
Completing this wide range of connections is an SPDIF/Unbalanced AES professional audio output, ‘black burst’ genlock input, and RS-422 serial remote.
"These new Apple G5 systems are perfectly designed for professional video users, due to incredible multi processing speed, fast memory pipelines, and the new PCI Express slots,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. "Combined with DeckLink Extreme PCIe, anyone can build an ideal creative workstation for editing, design, paint and effects."
