PACT CHIEF MOVES TO CARLTON COMMUNICATIONS

PACT Chief Executive Shaun Williams (pictured) is to take up the position of Corporate Affairs Director With Carlton Communications after David Cameron announced his departure.
Williams will join Carlton at the beginning of March with responsibility for the Corporate Affairs department, which covers press and public affairs, investor and internal relations. He is replacing David Cameron, who is leaving Carlton to stand for Parliament when the general election is called.
Gerry Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Carlton Communications Plc, said: "We are delighted that Shaun will be bringing his many talents and long-standing knowledge of the television industry to Carlton. We wish David Cameron well in his future career and thank him for all that he has done during his six and a half years at Carlton."
Shaun Williams said: "This is an exciting time to move from PACT to one of Britain's leading commercial media businesses. With their operations in free and pay television, programme making and distribution, Carlton are well placed in the digital world and I look forward to joining the team."
Michael Green, Chairman of Carlton, said: "Shaun Williams is an excellent appointment. David's decision to stand as a prospective candidate at the next election shows courage and optimism, two qualities he displayed in abundance at Carlton. I will miss him."
Williams has worked in both print and broadcast journalism. Trained at the BBC, he has also worked as a senior producer at the ITV Network. At PACT, he has led one of the UK's most active and influential trade associations. Williams has widespread experience in the television industry, is a Director of the industry's training body, Skillset, and took part in the Government's Creative Industries Review, set up by the Department of Culture Media and Sport.
