GRANADA RESTRUCTURE CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT

GRANADA have announced the re-branding of their children’s department as Granada Kids and new roles for Steven Andrew and Dan Maddicott.
The integration of Granada and United’s children’s departments, and the planned closer relationship with Cosgrove Hall makes Granada Kids one of the largest commercial producers of children’s programmes in the UK.
Maddicott, formerly Director of Children’s Programmes at United, takes on the newly created post of Director of Children’s Media at Granada, with a brief to build the commercial and international profile of Granada’s children’s business.
Andrew, formerly Controller of Granada Children’s, becomes Director of Children’s Programmes, with overall responsibility for production.
Maddicott and Andrew will also be jointly responsible for overseeing creative development and direction at former United subsidiary, Cosgrove Hall, the UK’s leading animation company.
Granada Kids have over 140 hours of programmes currently in production including well known and diverse series such as ‘The Worst Witch’, ‘My Parents Are Aliens’, ‘Dog and Duck’, ‘The Big Bang’, ‘Little Grey Rabbit’, ‘Jungle Run’, ‘Teddybears’, ‘Zzzap’ and ‘Fetch the Vet’, all for CITV. Further titles now in pre-production include a drama series based on Raymond Briggs – ‘Fungus the Bogeyman’, an adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s best selling book ‘Girls In Love’, a ground breaking CGI/puppet comedy series ‘Rabbit in a Hole’, an aspirational drama set in an international boarding school, and ‘Hattie Satellite’, a new animation series developed by cult cartoonist, Steven Appleby.
Granada’s distribution powerhouse Granada International will continue its prominent role in distributing children’s programming and helping raise co-production finance, principally for Granada Kids, but also, where commercially viable, for independent producers. (CD)
