CAKE To Distribute New Kids Series

Leading kids' entertainment specialists CAKE has acquired the worldwide distribution rights of live-action, sci-fi adventure series, The Sparticle Mystery.
The 13 x 30' drama, which will be broadcast on CBBC in early 2011, has been created and produced by the team behind the BAFTA-winning Summerhill for CBBC.
The Sparticle Mystery uniquely features an all-child cast left 'home alone' on Earth when a top secret science experiment goes catastrophically wrong, resulting in all the over fourteens in the world being transported to a parallel universe.
After the initial highs of life without their parents, the children set out on a dangerous and thrilling quest as they attempt to rebuild a world in the wake of the Britannia Project - the most powerful machine on Earth that attempts to recreate the Big Bang. This massive particle collider was built to provide the existence of extra dimensions, but the scientists never imagined their machine would actually create them.
The Sparticle Mystery follows the children as they attempt to realign every particle with its super symmetrical partner (sparticle) and bring back the grown-ups before it's too late, and the day of the disappearance goes down in history as 1AP (After Parents).
Tom van Waveren, CEO & Creative Director, commented: "The Sparticle Mustery is a strong property that combines science-fiction with gripping drama while, at its core addresses how children acknowledge and deal with intangible loss, tracing their imagination and reactions when faced with enormous challenges. This deal is a strategic move for us as we broaden our live-action catalogue. There's huge potential in The Sparticle Mystery and we look forward to the reception it achieves in territories around the world."
Producer Stephen Smallwood added: "The Sparticle Mystery is an adventure set in a world without adults - what child could resist that?"
The Sparticle Mystery joins a raft of successful properties which CAKE has taken to major territories around the world. CAKE's portfolio includes titles such as Poppy Cat (Coolabi), Oscar's Oasis (TeamTo and Tuba), Dead Gorgeous (Coolabi and Burberry Entertainment) Angelo Rules (TeamTO and CAKE) and Total Drama (Fresh TV).
