SKILLSET APPOINT THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS

News Image
SKILLSET have appointed three new board members taking the total number to nine.
Managing Director of Discovery Networks Europe, Joyce Taylor, Channel 4’s new Head of Human Resources, Peter Meier (pictured) and PACT’s new Chief Executive, John McVay, have recently joined the Skillset board.
Taylor’s appointment means the Skillset board now have representatives from an even wider range of the industry. Taylor has been Managing Director of Discovery Networks since 1995 and has responsibility for all Discovery’s businesses across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. She was previously Chief Executive of Flextech Television and has worked in the cable industry and for the BBC.
Meier has replaced Janet Walker, Channel 4’s Director of Finance and Business Affairs, on the Skillset board. He was previously on the Skillset board between 1997 and 1999 whilst he was Director of Personnel and Administration at United Broadcasting and Entertainment. Prior to this Meier worked at Anglia Television in Human Resources for over 13 years.
McVay has recently been appointed as the new Chief Executive of PACT and replaces Shaun Williams on the Skillset board. Previously to this role McVay was Director of the Research Centre for Television and Interactivity based in Glasgow. He has also been Head of Training at Scottish Screen and before that Chief Executive of Scottish Broadcast & Screen Training.
Dinah Caine, Chief Executive of Skillset, said: “It’s very important for the Skillset board to be as representative of the industry as possible, as it is the industry who own and manage Skillset. Getting Discovery on board can only strengthen Skillset and it’s board’s decision making, I look forward to working with Joyce. I’d like to thank Janet Walker and Shaun Williams for all the hard work and commitment which they gave to our board, but I know in Peter and John we have got very capable replacements as we have worked closely together before.”
Further appointments to the Skillset board are expected in the coming weeks. (CD)
