NITV LAUNCHES SLATE FOR MIP TV 2001

AT MIP TV 2001 Network Ireland Television have launched their most prestigious slate of new feature films and documentaries, which are likely to appeal to a broad range of broadcasters.
Top of the list are three recent independent films from Irish writers and directors, namely Frank Stapleton's surreal comedy, ‘The Fifth Province’, Fintan Connelly's acclaimed thriller, ‘Flick’, and ‘Beyond the Pale’ by Patrick Clarke.
The new documentaries are also expected to attract major overseas broadcasters attention. ‘Shackleton and Scott: Rivals for the Pole’, is the just-finished follow-up documentary by producer John Murray to his much admired ‘Escape from Antarctica: In Search of Shackleton’. ‘On the Ballykissangel Trail’ is a documentary on the impact that this TV drama series has had on the lives of the cast, creative talent and the villagers of Avoca, Co. Wicklow, where this hugely popular television series, now seen in 32 international territories, has been shot for the past six years.
Finally, two new lifestyle shows, ‘Hook 'Em and Cook 'Em’ (a fishing and cooking series) and ‘Celebrity Rankin Challenge’, Paul Rankin's latest culinary contribution to the world of the cooking-challenged, provide both fun and entertainment to Network Ireland's TV catalogue. (CD)
