BBC MEDIAARC CREATIVES WIN FIVE AWARDS

BBC MediaArc, the BBC’s recently formed design agency, have won five awards at the Promax/Broadcast Design Association (BDA), European Congress in Amsterdam.
The wins follow the commissioning of BBC MediaArc to make both the opening film for the conference, and to create the graphics for the event, themed 'Break The Rules'.
BBC MediaArc picked up the following accolades:
Programme Packaging - BBC Wild Idents (Steve Cope) GOLD
Best Traditional Animation - The Sin Bin (Steve Cope) GOLD
Best Mixed Media Animation - Christmas on BBC2 (Jane Wyatt and Mary Moss) GOLD
Best 2D and/or 3D Animation - Correspondent (Steve Cope) SILVER
Best Current Affairs/Info Promo - Straight Talk (Sarah Dewis) GOLD
Commenting on the mood setting video, Carmen Alzner, Executive Director, Promax & BDA Europe, said: “We ask a different country each year to produce the opening film for the conference, and this year we looked to the UK. Aware of their reputation for quality and innovation, we chose the BBC’s design agency BBC MediaArc to create a vision for the event. The result was fantastic.”
As creatives rarely play by the rules, this year’s theme – ‘Break the Rules’ - was ideal to demonstrate the new group’s passion for design.
How the team approached the project was revealed at one of the seminars –‘Just Design It!’
BBC MediaArc also presented The Future TV Session Strand, a series of seminars examining how new digital technology will affect branding in the future for marketeers, designers and advertisers. With more and more opportunities to communicate, the sessions explored the new devices, the new platforms, and the myriad of possibilities to come. (CD)
