PHILIPS REVEAL NETWORKING CONTROL SOLUTIONS

PHILIPS’ Media Networking and Control (MNC) division are set to reveal their latest solutions for digital video connectivity.
At NAB 2001, Philips will add a compact digital video SD and HD solution, the Trinix Digital Video Routing Switcher to their line-up.
The Trinix routing switcher has two chassis sizes: an 8RU chassis that fits up to 128x128 and a 15RU chassis that fits 256x256. The larger chassis can be used to construct a 512x512 routing switcher for HD and SD without the need of distribution amplifiers.
Joop Janssen, VP and GM for Media Networking and Control, said: "Whereas Venus2001 is still the champion in efficiently accommodating all audio, video and data signal types mixed and matched in one box, the Trinix is the absolute gold medallist in the digital video (SD/HD) routing segment.
"Based on five pending patents Trinix with its 256x256 frame of 15 RU is about half the size of its next competitor. Adding to this the SNMP and Web Server communication capabilities, the lowest power consumption, front accessibility of all active components and the full redundancy architecture, the introduction of the Philips Broadcast Trinix digital video routing family marks a momentous step forward in the broadcast and video transport industry."
Media Networking and Control is also poised to unveil the expansion of the Triton line to include a comprehensive line of interface products, over 150 modular products including small routing solutions, DAs and converters.
Triton switchers are available for analogue video, digital video, HD video, stereo audio, AES/EBU digital audio, and telecom/data switching. Matrix sizes include 32x32, 16x16, 8x8 and 16x2. Triton switchers can be controlled via built in control panels, stand-alone control panels, PC control software, or connection to the Jupiter Control System. The New Series 6500 products, say Philips, provide reliability in a highly configurable modular 3 RU frame.
Up to 18 mix-and-match modules can be contained in a single frame with forced-air cooling and redundant power supplies. In addition, the Series 6500 is designed to control, monitor, and upgrade up to eight frames remotely via SNMP or Web via a single communications card. The Series 6400 comprises a family of economical distribution amplifiers and converters in 1RU and 2 RU packages.
Media Networking and Control will also display AccuSwitch. The CM4000 control box, under a leading automation application, provides 200 switches per frame while allowing frame-accurate and deterministic switching. This allows the user to schedule deferred switches and have them occur at a specific frame and at a specific point in time.
