THE MUMMY RETURNS GOES TO ABERDEEN

UNIVERSAL Pictures action adventure sequel, ‘The Mummy Returns’, distributed in the UK and Ireland by Universal International Pictures, screens its charity premiere at the Lighthouse Cinema, Aberdeen, on May 16.
Already a smash hit in the US the film grossed $68.1 million in its first three days, between May 4 to May 6, showing in 3,401 cinemas across the States. Kevin McCartney, Cineam Director of the Lighthouse Cinema, said: “This is the first for Aberdeen and a great opportunity for Aberdeen film goers. Universal Pictures celebrated their secong biggest opening in cinema history in the US with their adventure sequel ‘The Mummy Returns’, and we have the first showing of the film in Scotland. Directed by Stephen Sommers the film stars Brendan Fraser, Rachael Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, Oded Fehr, and Patricia Valasquez and also star newcomers Freddie Boath, Adewale and The Rock as The Scorpion King.
“In addition to an invited audience of celebrities we are offering the public the opportunity to see the film and contribute to an important Aberdeen charity. Tickets can now be purchased on 0845 602066, or at the Lighthouse Cinema booking office, Shiprow, Aberdeen.”
70 per cent of the ticket sales will go to Aberdeen’s Lord Provost’s Charity, and the balance will go to a film charity. (CD)
