Retevision chooses Zandar FusionPro MultiViewers for broadcast facility

Retevision, Spain’s national carrier for commercial television, recently completed a large project for a new state of the art control room, installing Zandar FusionPro MultiViewers at the core of its broadcast facility.
Sited at the Telepuerto Iternacional de Arganda (TIAR) near Madrid is the largest broadcast contribution and distribution centre in Spain. The earth station manages feeds for all the company’s satellite operations in Europe and the Americas through a huge complex, supervised and controlled in a new central control room.
Ibérica de Componentes was appointed as the turnkey contractor for the new control room facilities, installing 10 Zandar FusionPro MultiViewer systems which display more than 160 video signals and 4 VGA input signals. Each of the compact 3RU FusionPro systems can display up to 26 source signals, providing expansion capacity and managed from the Z Manager Java based client server application which allows Retevision to set up and edit the output display characteristics from a centralised control position.
The resulting multi image outputs are fed to 50” Mitsubushi rear projectors, which together form a video wall for operators to view all network signals passing through the international teleport. This Zandar system is mission critical for the Retevision as the majority of Spanish broadcasters use this facility for their satellite distribution and contribution feeds.
The turnkey contract included delivery, installation and commissioning of the complete system.
Carlos Laborda, Managing Director of Ibérica de Componentes, said: “ Retevision has very stringent requirements for high quality signal monitoring which were more than met by the FusionPro system. Its flexibility was key to the high density of images we were able to display and the powerful Z manager software allowed us to optimise the output display configuration to the large Videowall. Retevision have the reassurance that as their monitoring system evolves with more traffic through then centre, they can quickly edit and create new display configurations to suit the operators and key channels.
“The FusionPro has shown to be very reliable and we would have no hesitation in recommending this system again.”
Zandar’s FusionPro system is the most advanced MultiViewer in the world with a host of features developed in conjunction with broadcasters over many years. Extensively used for 24/7, 365 mission critical operations it is a popular choice for central control rooms and monitoring facilities worldwide.
