Cobalt Digital To Unveil End-To-End ST 2110/IPMX Solutions
Cobalt Digital, a leading designer and manufacturer of signal processing technology and a founding partner of the openGear initiative, will showcase a complete ST 2110/IPMX ecosystem at NAB Show New York 2026 (Booth 226), supported by a range of practical tools aimed at real-world broadcast challenges.
A central theme in New York is Cobalt's end-to-end strategy for ST 2110/IPMX, illustrating how broadcasters can move from SDI to IP at their own pace, sustain hybrid operations, and safeguard existing investments. Demonstrations will also cover a hybrid satellite/Internet approach tailored to the C‑band spectrum transition, the blueCORE standalone processing platform, the UltraBlue MV-SW multiviewer family, and a comprehensive line-up for video and audio processing, monitoring, conversion, encoding, and decoding.
End-to-end ST 2110 and IPMX solutions will be on display as Cobalt extends IPMX functionality with support for JPEG XS Temporal Differential Coding (JXS TDC). This enables IPMX-certified devices to discover, set up, and transport visually lossless, ultra‑low latency JPEG XS media streams. The enhancement is designed to reinforce plug‑and‑play deployment, maintain low-latency JPEG XS workflows, and preserve interoperability across mixed‑vendor environments.
JPEG XS support spans Cobalt’s ST 2110/IPMX-capable ranges, including SAPPHIRE mini converters, INDIGO gateways, PACIFIC encoders and decoders, TOPAZ processing platforms, ARIA audio monitors, and UltraBlue multiviewers.
Addressing the C-band transition, Cobalt will highlight a solution that combines satellite and Internet transport within the COBALT PACIFIC compression line, compliant with VSR TR‑06‑4 Part 7. In this hybrid mode, the Internet is used for recovering data impacted by satellite losses, helping ensure dependable delivery as distribution models evolve.
The PACIFIC ULL-DEC with SAT-DEMOD adds a factory‑installed DVB‑S/S2 demodulator so broadcasters can receive satellite feeds and present them via both ASI and IP. In operation, Ku‑ and Ka‑band satellites handle bulk distribution, while the Internet carries lost packet recovery, providing a pragmatic route to resilient content distribution during the industry’s satellite reconfiguration.
Cobalt's blueCORE family of standalone processors, introduced at NAB 2026 and subsequently recognised with multiple industry awards, will also be shown. The 1RU platform concentrates high‑performance, multi‑function audio and video processing into a compact chassis for deployments where space, power, and operational simplicity matter.
blueCORE supports both SDI and ST 2110/IPMX, enabling users to process within SDI workflows while preserving a clear path to IP. The ST 2110 variant draws less than 80W, and the self‑contained design allows set‑up and operation with or without a computer.
Capabilities include up/down/cross conversion, colour correction, multiple HDR processing options, audio routing and mixing, per‑channel frame synchronisation, frame rate conversion, audio embedding and de‑embedding, SCTE‑104 insertion, logo insertion, and other base features. With SDI inputs and outputs (copper and fibre), four channels of 3G processing (or one channel up to 12G), plus ST 2110/IPMX I/O, the platform offers extensive flexibility for infrastructures migrating to IP.
Cobalt will demonstrate the latest UltraBlue MV-SW multiviewer capabilities for facilities working with compressed streams, SDI, ST 2110, IPMX, or hybrid environments. Available as a turnkey system or as software for customer-supplied hardware, the multiviewer ingests compressed and baseband audio/video over IP across a variety of protocols and formats, and features flexible audio routing, graphical and text overlays, PIP positioning, tally support, and multiple display layouts. With IPMX support now incorporated, UltraBlue provides a practical bridge between SDI and IP‑centric workflows.
On the audio side, Cobalt has added optional fibre I/O to its 9935‑AUD4‑DANTE openGear advanced audio processor cards to support Dante Audio Interfaces. Direct fibre connectivity streamlines Dante deployments, supports longer‑distance runs, and removes the need for external media converters in fibre‑based network infrastructures.
The COBALT ARIA audio monitor line provides a forward path for operations moving to IP. The series includes what the company says is the only fully IPMX‑compliant audio monitor and supports 16 SDI or 64 MADI channels in a compact rack‑mount unit, with an intuitive touch display and web interface for control and monitoring.
Visitors can also see additional products from Cobalt’s broader portfolio, including SAPPHIRE converters, INDIGO gateways, PACIFIC compression solutions, and a full suite of openGear cards.
