Evolve Install Chooses Martin Audio

News Image
The Rex Rooms at 151 on King's Road marks the rebirth of a celebrated Chelsea nightlife spot. Located on the site of the famed 151 club—once a magnet for celebrities in the 1990s and 2000s—the venue has been reimagined by designer and nightlife innovator Marc Jacques Burton.

To match its refined, avant-garde interior with uncompromising sound, specialist integrator Evolve Install conceived and delivered a premium distributed system built around Martin Audio components.

"The CDD enclosures are compact yet remarkably powerful," explained Elliot Patterson of Evolve Install. "It's a club environment where guests on the perimeter of the lounge often want the same energy and impact as those on the dancefloor. With the loudspeakers properly time-aligned, the CDD series delivers consistent audio quality, punch, and clarity across the entire space."

The venue comprises two distinct areas: a lively main lounge and, concealed behind a secret door, The King's 1942 Room private space. Martin Audio’s CDD (Coaxial Differential Dispersion) Series loudspeakers were specified throughout for an upmarket, discreet solution providing even coverage.

In the main lounge, the dancefloor is covered by four Martin Audio CDD8 loudspeakers, reinforced by a pair of Martin Audio SX210 subwoofers for tight, powerful low end. The DJ booth features CDD6 monitors, while perimeter seating is served by a mix of CDD5 compact loudspeakers and ADORN A55 models.

Behind the secret entrance, The King’s 1942 Room is equipped with six CDD6 cabinets and an SX210 subwoofer, with additional CDD5 units extending seamless coverage to the seating around the room’s edges.

Operations run across two independent audio zones, enabling separate DJ programming in each room.
