Sneek City Council Upgrades Conferencing System

Sneek City Council in the northern Netherlands has upgraded its council chamber conferencing system with technology from Audio-Technica and MVI AudioVisual.

Located in the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân, Sneek dates back to the 10th century and is known for its canals and the annual Sneekweek, described as the largest sailing event on inland European waterways.

The council chamber has been equipped with an Audio-Technica ATUC-50 Digital Discussion System alongside MVI AudioVisual’s Delegate UI software.

The new system was introduced to address reliability and usability issues with the chamber's previous conferencing setup, while providing greater flexibility and scope for future expansion.

The ATUC-50 delivers 24-bit/48kHz uncompressed digital audio and can support up to 300 wired delegate units. At Sneek City Council, Audio-Technica ATUC-M series gooseneck microphones are installed throughout the chamber in custom-built desktop enclosures alongside touch-panel voting units.

MVI AudioVisual's modular software allows users to select the features required for their particular application without adding unnecessary complexity.

The system has also been designed to be straightforward to operate, meaning new council members can participate in meetings without extensive training. Its IP-based architecture provides further scope for control and expansion into remote and hybrid meetings.
