Rohde & Schwarz Launches Air-Cooled R&S®TM1 UHF Transmitter
Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the TM1 air-cooled UHF transmitter at IBC 2026, positioning the medium-power system to cut operating expenses, boost energy efficiency and deliver high availability.
The platform also offers a straightforward migration route for operators with existing TMU9 deployments.
Spanning output levels from 600 W to 6.5 kW, TM1 natively supports ATSC 3.0 and 5G Broadcast, enabling services such as mobile TV, targeted datacasting and interactive formats.
Automation is central to day-to-day operation, with features including R&S®Auto-Doherty to optimise real-time performance at every operating point. Developed under Secure by Design principles, the transmitter helps broadcasters meet cybersecurity requirements and maintain stable, resilient transmission infrastructure.
An industry-first TM1 renewal option allows network operators to upgrade previous-generation equipment to full TM1 functionality and performance with far less effort than a new system rollout. By extending the life of installed assets, broadcasters can reduce the time, space and capital typically required for modernisation.
