Zixi, a leader in live video delivery and workflow orchestration, and Magewell, a leading developer of video capture, encoding and IP workflow hardware, have expanded their collaboration to provide broadcasters and streaming providers with a robust, end-to-end route for live video contribution over public and hybrid IP networks.

A leading US streaming service has implemented the combined Magewell–Zixi workflow to reliably receive and decode live IP feeds across production and distribution.

As more sports, events and news move to IP-based contribution, content owners need to move pristine video across networks they do not control, without the expense or inflexibility of dedicated circuits or satellite links. The joint solution addresses this by coupling compact, affordable encoding at the edge with error-resilient transport across the last mile and beyond.

Magewell's Ultra Encode range — including Ultra Encode Plus and Ultra Encode AIO — supports HDMI and SDI inputs, encoding in H.264 or HEVC, and outputs streams using the Zixi Protocol natively. In transit, the Zixi Protocol dynamically mitigates packet loss, jitter and latency to maintain quality over unmanaged, congested networks. Encoders can be provisioned and monitored centrally via Zixi ZEN Master, providing operators with orchestration, real-time telemetry and alerting for large fleets of contribution endpoints.

At the destination, Magewell's Pro Convert IP decoders ingest Zixi streams and convert them back to SDI or HDMI for monitoring, production and playout, with end-to-end control available in ZEN Master. The architecture scales from a single flypack to hundreds of endpoints, enabling cost-efficient encoding at source, reliable delivery over any IP network, and economical decoding at the edge — all managed through a single control plane.

The US streaming customer selected the integrated approach to give control room teams direct, granular control over every display. Live production feeds are pulled from cloud-hosted Zixi Broadcasters into Magewell Pro Convert decoders, then converted to SDI/HDMI for the control room. From ZEN Master, operators can route any feed to any screen, creating a standardised, cost-effective decode workflow with broadcast-grade reliability at scale.

Zixi Protocol support and ZEN Master management are available now for the Magewell Ultra Encode Plus and Ultra Encode AIO encoders, as well as the second generation of the Pro Convert IP decoder line. The joint solution will be showcased at IBC 2026, RAI Amsterdam (11–14 September), on Zixi Stand 5.A76 and Magewell Stand 7.A30 in Hall 7.
