ENCO To Showcase Multilingual Captioning And Translation Technology

ENCO is set to unveil new multilingual capabilities for its enCaption live captioning platform at IBC2026, including automatic language detection and captioning for live multilingual broadcasts and presentations.

The company will also demonstrate integrated enTranslate functionality within its Linux-based enCaption Sierra platform, enabling real-time, on-premises translation. In addition, enSpeak, ENCO's voice translation technology, will make its IBC debut as part of the company's expanding multilingual accessibility offering.

ENCO will showcase the technology at Stand 7.A34 at the Amsterdam RAI from September 11-14.

The new multilingual capability allows enCaption to automatically detect changes in the spoken language and generate captions in the appropriate language in real time. Operators do not need to manually switch languages or reconfigure the system.

The technology supports combinations of up to 50 languages, allowing captioning to follow changes between speakers and languages during a live programme or presentation.

ENCO said the development is aimed at providing greater flexibility for multilingual television and AV applications. In a live news or sports programme, for example, speakers may move between English and Spanish, while an international panel could feature participants speaking French, German and other languages.

enCaption automatically identifies each spoken language and generates captions in the same language, allowing the workflow to follow the conversation without operator intervention.

The capability will be available across ENCO's enCaption solutions, including enCaption Sierra, the company's next-generation Linux-based captioning platform, which is now shipping worldwide.

ENCO is also expanding Sierra's multilingual capabilities through the integration of enTranslate, its real-time translation engine.

Sierra users will be able to translate live captions from one language into another directly within an on-premises environment. The integration creates a combined captioning and translation workflow without requiring content to leave the facility.

ENCO said the integration makes enTranslate a native extension of the Sierra workflow, giving broadcasters and professional AV organisations greater flexibility when delivering content to multilingual audiences.

IBC2026 visitors will also get their first look at enSpeak, ENCO's real-time voice translation engine.

The technology extends the multilingual workflow from text to speech by converting translated text into natural-sounding, low-latency audio.

Together, enCaption, enTranslate and enSpeak are designed to provide an end-to-end accessibility workflow, taking spoken content through captioning, translated text and translated speech.

For television applications, enSpeak can provide translated audio through secondary audio programme channels. Streaming, live event and in-venue audiences can also access text and voice translations on personal devices through enTranslate Mobile.

ENCO said enSpeak can be deployed in cloud, on-premises or hybrid environments. It can operate within the company's wider ecosystem or as a standalone voice-to-voice and respeaking solution.

The new capabilities will form part of ENCO's wider showcase at IBC2026, highlighting the company's focus on automated multilingual accessibility and real-time translation for broadcast and professional AV applications.
