Riedel Communications Launches New OnAir Headset Platform

News Image
Riedel Communications has launched a new range of professional intercom headsets designed for broadcast, live entertainment, sports and other live production applications.

The new OnAir™ headset platform comprises the OnAir 200, 400 and 500 Series, covering applications ranging from lightweight single-ear communication to dual-ear headsets designed for high-noise environments.

Riedel said the platform has been developed with a focus on speech intelligibility, ergonomics, integration and serviceability. The speakers and microphones are optimised for intercom audio, while the 500 Series provides passive isolation for use in demanding environments.

The 400 and 500 Series also feature integrated Push-to-Talk (PTT) controls, allowing users to respond directly from the headset rather than operating a key on a connected intercom device.

The OnAir 200 Series is aimed at lightweight, single-ear communication and is available in two versions: an analogue model with a fixed XLR4F connection and a digital model with a fixed USB-C connection. Both versions include mic mute, reversible designs and replaceable parts.

The OnAir 400 Series is available in both single- and dual-ear configurations and adds integrated controls and flexible connectivity. Its mic boom features an integrated PTT button, enabling users to respond directly from the headset.

The 400 Series also includes a reversible design, a pressure-reducing headband cutout and an exchangeable Mini XLR7 connection at the ear cup. This allows cables to be changed for use with different devices.

Designed for demanding high-noise environments such as motorsports, the OnAir 500 Series features a dual-ear design combining passive isolation with expanded controls integrated into the headset.

Alongside the reply key on the mic boom, the 500 Series has two PTT buttons on the ear cup, providing additional access to intercom communication. A dedicated radio mode allows the buttons to be used with radios.

Like the 400 Series, the 500 Series features a reversible design and an exchangeable Mini XLR7 connection.

Riedel has also placed an emphasis on serviceability across the OnAir range. Components on the 400 and 500 Series, including the ear and head cushions, dust protection, mic boom module and cable, can be replaced individually. The 200 Series features replaceable ear and side cushions.

The company said the OnAir platform has also been designed to allow for future development as production requirements evolve.

The new headset platform will be showcased at IBC2026 in Amsterdam from September 11-14 at Stand 10.A24.
