Mount Pleasant Studio Chronicles One Of Its Busiest Periods

News Image
Mount Pleasant Studio has come through one of the liveliest stretches in its history, welcoming a surge of commercials, entertainment formats, virtual production builds, video podcasts, interviews and livestreams that reflect the evolving demands of modern screen work.

On the green screen stage, a week-long shoot fused live-action performances with AI-generated backgrounds, illustrating how classic techniques and emerging technologies can be blended to open up fresh creative options. A trailer is due shortly. The Royal Opera House also used the space to capture green screen elements for an upcoming production, taking advantage of the large infinity cove, extensive lighting and technical support suited to everything from straightforward chroma key to complex virtual environments.

Commercials have remained central to the schedule. Hungry Man and Dawn Productions shot a significant social-first campaign for Andrex, fronted by Katherine Ryan — her second visit in a month following a Comic Relief and BBC project. The shoot notably fielded two Sony VENICE 2 cameras for a social campaign, a first at the studio. Recent bookings also included Wonderhood’s latest work for Numan and an upcoming campaign for a major supermarket. LADbible returned for branded content with NatWest, while Bauer Media produced a Maltesers and Kiss FM promotion featuring Olivia Attwood and Pete Wicks. Global also booked the studio for promotional shoots for Heart and Capital.

Virtual production continued to build momentum. CUBE Studio assembled another LED wall on site for the commercial launch of a new technology company, following the 6m x 3m installation used for the National Emergency Briefing shoot in March, produced by Execute London. The open floor plan allows teams to construct LED stages, large sets and bespoke environments, while robust power, access and production support make it a strong base for ambitious virtual production shoots in London.

Entertainment formats have been equally active. A YouTube game-show fronted by Sidemen’s Miniminter welcomed singer-songwriter Myles Smith as a guest, with Chunkz arriving the following week to film his own format. Podcasting scaled up too: a brand-backed celebrity video podcast filmed across four days ahead of a September launch, and episodes of Brittany Broski’s Royal Court were captured within a striking castle set.

The elaborate build hosted Matt Smith, timed to the second season of House of the Dragon, alongside cast members from Bridgerton and Heartstopper — a clear example of how a video podcast can be elevated into a full entertainment vehicle with the right concept, design and production environment.

Interview-led work remained steady, spanning in-depth conversations for a global business news website, plus documentary and corporate interviews across multiple sectors. The studio also supported US virtual press junkets for UK-shot series. A standout moment came with Brenda Blethyn, whose poise and endurance across a full day of interviews drew universal praise, as she dialled into US chat shows, news programmes and YouTube channels from the studio.

Live events continued as well, including a returning client’s four-day livestreamed medical conference. With multiple speakers, decks and remote audiences, these productions demand meticulous technical and logistical planning — which the in-house team can provide through facilities, crew and tailored production support.

As ever, the people behind the space have been central to smooth-running shoots. As Dan Shepherd of Bugle Media recently put it: "Excellent studio and fantastic people... All went really well and Ray & team were brilliant as usual." The studio works closely with visiting productions from arrival to wrap and can supply experienced crew and broader support on request.

For upcoming projects — from commercials and entertainment formats to video podcasts, interviews, livestreams, green-screen work and LED-wall builds — Mount Pleasant Studio offers a flexible London base backed by an accommodating, experienced team. Enquiries are welcome to discuss dates, requirements or to arrange a recce.
