Dot Group To Demonstrate How Cutting Data Carbon Can Reduce Costs
Dot Group will use IBC2026 to demonstrate how media and entertainment businesses can reduce the financial and environmental costs associated with their data operations.
The data and AI consultancy will exhibit at the RAI Amsterdam from 11 to 14 September in the Future Tech Zone, on Stand 14.A57, where it will showcase a live integration between its GreenDot platform and IBM Aspera.
The demonstration is designed to give organisations real-time visibility into the energy consumption, carbon impact and financial cost of their data activity.
GreenDot is Dot Group's real-time energy, cost and carbon monitoring platform. At IBC2026, it will be paired with IBM Aspera, the high-speed secure file transfer technology used across the media and broadcast sectors.
Dot Group will use the demonstration to challenge the idea that sustainability necessarily represents an additional cost for businesses operating in a challenging market.
Instead, the company argues that energy consumption associated with data operations represents both a financial and environmental cost, and that improving visibility of this activity can allow organisations to reduce both simultaneously.
At the heart of GreenDot is DEO, or Digital Energy Officer, an optional hybrid AI layer designed to analyse usage data across an organisation’s data estate.
The system identifies where energy and associated costs are being generated and provides practical options for reducing consumption and expenditure.
At IBC2026, the technology will be demonstrated in the context of data transport, with IBM Aspera transfers monitored by GreenDot in real time.
Visitors will be able to see how the performance of high-speed, secure file transfers can be assessed not only in terms of speed, but also energy consumption and associated environmental impact.
Dot Group also highlights what it describes as a renewed commercial opportunity around IBM Aspera, suggesting that the technology is now more accessible from a cost perspective than some media organisations may remember.
The company is positioning IBC2026 as an opportunity for businesses that previously ruled out Aspera on cost grounds to reassess the technology alongside the potential financial and environmental benefits of more efficient data movement.
The live demonstration will be available at Dot Group's Stand 14.A57 in the Future Tech Zone throughout IBC2026.
