Absen Releases White Paper On Future Of LED Technology

Absen has released a new white paper examining the changing role of LED display technology in sports venues and the standards expected to shape the next generation of display systems.

The Sports LED Display Solutions White Paper explores how LED technology has moved beyond traditional scoreboards and information screens as sporting events place greater technical demands on venues and fans seek more immersive experiences.

According to the white paper, LED displays are increasingly becoming a core part of venue infrastructure, supporting fan engagement, broadcast performance and commercial opportunities.

Drawing on experience from more than 65,000 projects worldwide, including major international sporting events, Absen identifies three key factors driving the development of sports venue display technology.

These include international event certification, the growing focus on the fan experience and the increasing commercial value of digital display infrastructure.

The white paper identifies five key areas for the development of next-generation sports LED systems: image quality, reliability, compliance, openness and lifecycle value.

Together, these areas address the requirements of broadcast-grade performance, operational resilience and compliance with international standards, while also considering how display systems can integrate with wider venue infrastructure and deliver long-term energy efficiency.

The report also examines how LED display requirements differ between sports environments, including football stadiums, basketball arenas, ice hockey venues, aquatic centres and esports facilities.

Absen highlights the importance of combining technology tailored to individual sporting applications with long-term service and support to ensure display systems can meet operational requirements throughout their lifecycle.
