L3Harris Unveils XL Converge 300P Portable Radio With 5G And NTN Connectivity

L3Harris has launched the XL Converge 300P, a multi‑network portable radio for public safety, federal and critical infrastructure users, billed as the first device to combine 5G and Non‑Terrestrial Network (NTN) connectivity in a single unit.

The company says the new model is designed to strengthen reliable, interoperable communications when it matters most — from busy stadiums to remote backcountry responses — ensuring technology performs in mission‑critical moments.

Building on the widespread adoption of the XL Converge 200P since 2015, many of which remain in service due to their durability, the XL‑300P marks a significant step up. "The XL-300P feature set is not a simple refresh and will prove to be an overwhelming upgrade over the 200P," said James Potter, Director, Product Management, L3Harris. "A combination of engineering breakthroughs and observed customer need made it clear that we were ready to introduce a new flagship device with heightened capabilities."

The XL‑300P features FIPS 140‑3 Level 3 certification, meeting the latest U.S. government standards for secure, encrypted communications. It offers intelligent switching across P25, LTE/5G, Wi‑Fi and satellite networks, helping users stay connected as conditions and coverage change.

Engineered to tackle extreme scenarios, the radio is aimed at closing coverage gaps common in rural locations and challenging terrain, improving operational reach and resilience.

Hardware durability is central to the design. The XL‑300P draws on the rugged traits of the XL Extreme 400P, including a textured finish, integrated keypad, improved knob sensitivity and Corning Gorilla Glass displays, all tested to stringent durability standards.

The XL‑300P is available to order now, with customer shipments expected in July 2026. L3Harris plans a first software upgrade shortly after units ship, with further updates due later in 2026.
