Sky Brings All-New Baywatch To UK And Ireland In 2027

Sky will transport viewers to the beaches of Southern California with a new iteration of Baywatch, set to debut exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland in 2027, following a deal with Fremantle.

The revival is a co-production between FOX Entertainment and Fremantle.

A quarter-century after the original 11-season run ended, the franchise returns with a 12-episode first season. With the signature red swimsuits back, an all-new team of lifeguards will tackle high-stakes rescues and sun-soaked drama on the world’s most famous shoreline.

First broadcast in 1989, Baywatch became the most-watched series globally, airing in more than 200 countries and, at its height, attracting over a billion viewers each week. The original starred David Hasselhoff and helped propel the careers of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa and Yasmine Bleeth.

The reboot aims to honour the franchise's enduring legacy while updating it for today’s worldwide audience, promising adrenaline-fuelled rescues, tangled relationships and beachside heroics — now with a fresh cast, contemporary themes and a renewed focus on protecting Southern California's coast.

Stephen Amell leads the cast as Hobie Buchannon, joined by Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene. In recurring roles, David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, Livvy Dunne plays Grace, and Erika Eleniak will guest star, reprising Shauni McClain.

Lucy Criddle, Director of Acquisitions & Strategic Projects at Sky, said: "Baywatch is one of the most iconic television franchises of all time, and this bold new reimagining will deliver the sun, sea and high-stakes drama audiences know and love, while introducing a dynamic new cast for a new generation of fans. We're thrilled to partner with Fremantle and couldn’t be more excited to bring the series exclusively to Sky audiences across the UK and Ireland."

"Baywatch is one of the most iconic and globally recognised brands in television, and the excitement surrounding the series reflects its enduring appeal," said Jamie Lynn, EVP, Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA, Fremantle. "It has an instantly familiar feel while still being made for today's audiences, offering something for both loyal and new fans. It delivers the sun-soaked drama and signature energy people love, on an even bigger scale. We're delighted to partner with Sky to bring it to audiences in the UK and Ireland; their reach and commitment to premium entertainment make them the perfect home for the series."

Baywatch is co-produced by FOX Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted) serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. McG will direct the premiere episode. FOX Entertainment Global holds all domestic distribution rights, while Fremantle handles international sales. The series was acquired for Sky by Lucy Criddle.

Baywatch will stream on NOW and air on Sky in the UK and Ireland in 2027.
