Matthews Launches Upgraded C-Stand With Hollywood Baby Pin Arm

News Image
Matthews has introduced a new addition to its C-stand lineup, unveiling the Hollywood Baby Pin Arm designed to improve safety, stability and efficiency for film and broadcast professionals.

The company, known for its grip equipment used across film, television and photography, said the updated design allows users to mount fixtures more securely and directly to the gobo arm of its C-stands.

The new feature incorporates a 1/4"-20 tapped stainless steel Baby Pin at one end of the gobo arm. It also includes a knurled undercut and shoulder, which enhance grip and reduce the risk of rotation or slippage when equipment is mounted—particularly in inverted positions where safety is critical.

The upgrade is intended to streamline workflows by enabling faster and more stable attachment of accessories, while also helping to protect crew members and equipment.

Cinematographer Nicholas Czerula of NH Grip & Electric said the new design responds directly to industry demand.

"The new Hollywood Baby Pin Arm is exactly what we've been asking for: solid construction, knurling, and a shoulder to help keep gear attached.”

The Hollywood Baby Pin Arm has been integrated into Matthews’ Sliding Leg and Turtle Base C-Stand models, including product codes 756040, 756140, B756040 and B756140. A standalone grip arm without the Baby Pin is also available separately.

Matthews, which has been operating for nearly 60 years, has played a key role in developing industry standards such as the 5/8-inch “Baby” Pin and the folding-leg C-stand, both of which are widely used across production environments.
