FOX Names AWS As Preferred AI Cloud Provider

Fox Corporation has announced a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), naming the cloud provider as its preferred AI cloud partner in a move aimed at accelerating innovation and enhancing media delivery.

The partnership will see FOX expand its use of AWS technologies to power its FOX One direct-to-consumer platform, integrating services such as AWS Elemental MediaLive, MediaPackage and MediaTailor alongside AI and machine learning tools, including AWS Elemental Inference.

Together, these technologies are expected to support scalable live and on-demand streaming, while enabling AI-driven features such as content enrichment, automated highlight generation and personalised content discovery across FOX’s news, sports and entertainment offerings.

Jeff Dow, EVP, Platform and Media Technology at Fox Corporation, said: "Partnering with AWS as our preferred AI Cloud provider allows us to accelerate innovation across every part of our business," said Jeff Dow, EVP, Platform and Media Technology, Fox Corporation. "From enhancing how we deliver content on FOX One to streamlining our media supply chain, AWS provides the scale, reliability and cutting-edge AI capabilities we need to continue redefining the future of media."

Samira Panah Bakhtiar, General Manager for Media & Entertainment, Games and Sports at AWS, added: "AWS is proud to expand our relationship with FOX at such a pivotal moment in the media and entertainment industry. By combining FOX's coveted content and reach with AWS’s cloud and generative AI capabilities, we're enabling new ways to create, deliver and monetize content at scale."

The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, which began in 2022. Since then, FOX has introduced a series of AI-powered features aimed at improving viewer engagement and streaming performance.

During the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, FOX launched its 'Catch Up With Highlights' feature using Amazon’s Media Replay Engine, automatically generating hundreds of recap videos across tournament matches. The company has since expanded the feature to other live events.

In 2023, FOX upgraded its streaming infrastructure to support 4K resolution with HDR and sub-second latency, while also showcasing its broader AI and data capabilities at AWS Summit New York. These included tools such as Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Personalize, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Titan, supporting a user base of more than 300 million monthly active users.

More recently, FOX deployed AWS Elemental Inference to automatically convert traditional 16:9 live sports broadcasts into vertical formats optimised for social media platforms, enabling near real-time distribution.

The agreement underscores FOX’s broader strategy to build a more agile and intelligent media ecosystem, leveraging advanced AI and cloud technologies to enhance audience engagement and support long-term growth.
