Nanolumens Brings Husker History To Life
Nanolumens has partnered with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to deliver immersive digital displays across the university’s $165 million Osborne Legacy Complex, a 315,000-square-foot facility dedicated to supporting its football programme.
Opened in 2023, the complex combines state-of-the-art training, recovery and recreational spaces with a focus on celebrating the heritage of Nebraska athletics, one of the most storied programmes in US college sports. The university, a member of the Big Ten Conference, competes in NCAA Division I across 24 varsity teams.
At the centre of the facility is the 15,000-square-foot Hall of Champions, where visitors are greeted by a large-scale video wall in the main lobby. The installation showcases historic moments, players and achievements from Nebraska football, creating an interactive experience visible both inside and outside the building.
"Nanolumens is featured across Osborne Legacy Complex, including the locker room displays, the experience lobby and multiple areas throughout the building," said Martin Oteng. "In our lobby, fans can stand outside and watch the history, the championships and the players' stories. It's a complete experience that connects our past with our present."
The technology extends into the Frank Solich Locker Room, where a large-format display spans the ceiling and walls, designed to reinforce team identity and atmosphere.
"We have a huge LED display across the locker room that shows the big Nebraska logo from one side to the other," explained Oteng. "It's bright, it’s bold and it represents who we are. The players love it."
Additional installations include a gaming theatre room featuring a cinema-style screen used for both entertainment and team gatherings.
Beyond fan engagement and player experience, the displays are also used by coaches and staff for reviewing game footage, sharing key messages and reinforcing team standards. Digital features are integrated throughout the building, including themed display areas and content walls that connect different parts of the facility.
For the Nebraska team, the decision to work with Nanolumens was based on previous experience and ongoing support.
"We had used Nanolumens before for our stadium display," he explained. "It made sense to stay on the same trend of video quality and reliability. Nanolumens’ team can support us on-site whenever we need it, which has been invaluable. From the installation phase to now, the entire process was seamless. The engineers walked us through every step and it was easy to understand from a technical perspective. With Nanolumens, we appreciate having a direct line of communication and the ability to diagnose issues quickly."
The integration of digital display technology throughout the Osborne Legacy Complex is helping the Nebraska football programme enhance communication, motivation and storytelling.
"We post our standards and reminders, and sometimes we play player highlights to build confidence. It's become an essential tool in how we engage our athletes," Oteng shared.
